The Stratosphere is the tallest free standing observation tower in the US. Standing 1,149 feet, the Tower is the tallest building west of the Mississippi River and is more than twice the height of any other building in Nevada. At the top there are three rides. Here's Nancy at the top.We did 2 of the 3 rides at the top. The X-Scream straps you into a horizontal open air rocket then propels you head first 27 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower. Then after several seconds extended out the full 27 feet, just as your feeling some what comfortable the front of the whole ride drops to about a 45 degree. Your then pulled back and shot out again. Nancy was screeming so load.... and she honestly tried to climb out of the ride while we were hanging over the edge. GREAT ride. Here I am. The Big Shot ride, catapults 16 riders up the Tower's mast to a height of 1,081 feet. Traveling at 45 miles per hour riders experience 4G's as they reach the top and feel negative G's as they fall back down. This was the ride that scared me the most. Here's the start of the marathon, can you see me...The marathon started to fireworks. Nancy said they were pretty good. I didn't see any being in the middle of the pack. Here I am on Fremont Street, some 6 or 7 miles into the race.
