Here's me with the Mesa Falls Marathon Start banner. The start line was in the middle of the Targhee National Forest on a dusty dirt road at dawn. And ah.... it was dark as you can see.Around mile 3 I stopped and took a picture of runners behind me. I know there are only a few back there, but then were only a few runners total.Another photo from the course. I forget what mile this was but it was early in the race.Here's the Mesa Falls. The course darted into an overlook and I stopped and snapped this picture. The fall is 114 feet high and 200 feet wide.Another photo from the overlook.After exiting the back roads of this National Forest we ran along Hwy47 then darted back into the forest. This is brother-in-law Mark.Nancy was cheering us on here so I stopped and snapped a photo of her. You can barely see her, she's there in the middle of the photo.Here's Nancy's photo of me as I chased down Mark.This part of the course was awesome, we ran on top of this ridge which over looked the "Warm River".IMG017.JPGIMG016.JPGYou could hear the babble and rushing of river here, very scenic.We returned to Hwy47 and I found myself running aside fields of... potatos... remember this is Idaho... WHEAT!More wheat.Miles of wheat... wheat until we're a mile or so from the finish line.
