Another view the Emerald Spring. This spring is 27 feet deep with a water tempature of 180 degrees.

These tiny geysers where going off everwhere.

The temperature of the water and type of bacteria in the water affect the pools colors. Typically orange to red in summer, green in winter.

The jagged rocks surrounding this spring is an indication that many many years ago this was a geyser which exploded from pressure.

This is Pearl Geyser.

These Fumaroles are just about everywhere in Yellowstone. They are dying spings or geysers.

Another boiling spring

This is some of the run off from the Grand Prismatic Spring and Excelsior Geyser/Crater.

Approaching Excelsior Geyser. Excelsior is the largest geyser in the world it has been dormant since the 1880's.

Here you can see the springs crater.

This now spring discharges over 4,000 gallons of 200 degree water per minute.

Excelsior is 276 feet by 328 feet.

This is the Grand Prismatic Spring.

The boardwalks here had handrails on only one side. it was kinda scary in parts with very hot water just inches below.

We toured Yellowstone during early fall and the orange mat has already given way to a dark red color.
