Here's our view pre-dawn. It was dark and cold. The temp was somewhere in the upper 30's.And dawn is breaking. We were among 50 to 100 of our closest friends, I mean strangers, this morning.Mt-904.JPGHere is the view we came to see, Mt. Haleakala. There are a few walking trails that lead into the crater. Next time we are in Maui I would like to walk some of them. Here's a photo from another observation area. The view was about the same. This photo is looking towards the main observation area.As the sign says Mt Haleakala is 10,023 feet high.On the top of Mt Wannahockaloogie (Mt. Haleakala) there also an Observatory run by the University of Hawaii. Here's a photo heading down. The drive down was kinda scary... then I remembered back to only a few hours earlier when I was driving to the top, in the dark, and how I never knew that the edge was so close. This is the view from a seldom visited over-look. Just a never before seen view, very glad we stopped. On the way back to our condo we stopped at Kula Lodge & Restaurant for breakfast. The ocean and views of Maui were great.
