As you hike along the Pipiwai Trail Makahiku comes closer...More Falls and pools along the way.Another view of the same falls.While on the Pipiwai Trail you pass through Bamboo Forest. The forest is too cool, it was also very hot... and damp in their.It was about 1pm and yes it was this dark in the bamboo forest.There it is... the Waimoku Falls. All we need to do is cross this last streem. As you approach the falls there are two streams you must cross. This is the second, Nancy stayed back at the first stream.Waimoku Falls are some 400 feet tall.The hike to the Waimoku is about 1.8 miles.The hike to the falls follows the Pipiwai Trail. The Pipiwai Trail is part of Haleakala National Park.The Haleakala National Park has $10 per car fee. The park pass is good for 3 days, so you can view the sun rise on Mt Haleakala and a day or so later us it again to hike to Waimoku. FYI the Pipiwai Trail is whole Hana Highway drive from the to top of Mt Haleakala.The treck to Waimoku is a must do if your on Maui.A zoomed in view of the top.I went for a swim in the pool under the 400 ft fall until I realized that the tinyest stick falling from 400 feet would hurt pretty bad.Here's a photo of the Blessed Mother Shrine near mile marker 45 on the Road to Hana.
